Nassau County Retired Educators Association

About Us

NCREA was established in 1984.  The first meetings were generally held in Fernandina Beach, Florida, and members were basically from the Fernandina Beach / Yulee area.  The membership today has expanded to include retired educators from the entire district, and meeting sites vary around the county.  NCREA serves all Nassau County including Bryceville, Callahan, Hilliard, Yulee, and Fernandina Beach.

Florida Retired Educators Association

The Nassau County Retired Educators Association (NCREA) is affiliated with the Florida Retired Educators Association (FREA) and the National Retired Teachers Association (NRTA) which is a division of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP).

The mission of the organization is:

  • To promote the well-being of retired educators;
  • To encourage community service;
  • To support public education.

The mission is hoped to be accomplished by dissemination of information to members and the public through written publications, programs, and projects at the local and state levels.  The NCREA meets the third Tuesday of each month from September through May.  Meeting sites are at various locations throughout the county, and the time schedule followed includes a 9:45am - 10:15am period for refreshment / fellowship time, with the General Meeting beginning at 10:15am.  The programs include guest speakers, informational topics, personal enrichment, holiday observances, and special trips / outings.

The NCREA membership is involved in many volunteer activities in the community such as literacy programs and events, social services, church programs, and various community organizations.  The organization also supports college scholarships for students who plan to become educators, and sponsors an annual Retirement Planning Seminar for Nassau School District employees anticipating retirement.
